How does Swifly's personal dictionary work?

Swifly's personal dictionary stores names, jargon, and other words it should recognize going forward — you can add words yourself from the Dashboard, and Swifly can also learn new words automatically when it notices you correcting the same word right after a dictation.

Add a word manually

Open the Swifly Dashboard and go to the Dictionary page. Click Add New, type the word or phrase, and confirm. The word appears in your list immediately and Swifly will recognize it in future dictations.

If you're part of a team and have owner or admin permissions, you can also choose to share a word with your team instead of keeping it personal.

From the Dictionary list you can edit or delete any personal word at any time by hovering over it and using the pencil and trash icons.

Automatic learning from corrections

Swifly also learns from what you do right after a dictation. If you select the text Swifly just inserted and correct a word — for example fixing a misheard name — Swifly notices the change and can add the corrected word to your personal dictionary automatically, without you having to open the Dictionary page.

When this happens, a small confirmation appears with the word that was added and an Undo button, in case Swifly picked up a change you didn't want saved. This confirmation dismisses on its own after a few seconds if you don't act on it.

Automatically learned words are marked with a small wand icon in your Dictionary list, so you can tell them apart from words you added yourself. You can edit or remove them the same way as manually added words.

This automatic detection only kicks in for small, targeted corrections — not full rewrites of your dictation — and only for edits made shortly after Swifly inserts the text.

Where dictionary words apply

Words you add — manually or automatically — apply across your dictations to help Swifly recognize them correctly next time, whether they're personal terms, names, or company-specific jargon.
